In recent months, a Chinese start-up DeepSeek has become one of the best-known AI chatbots, offering surprisingly good Estonian language support and competing in quality even with US models. However, its use also brings security risks, especially in the context of Chinese laws that may oblige the company to share user data with government authorities.
What should you know before using DeepSeek?
✅ Powerful AI, but with data privacy risks – DeepSeek can provide detailed answers, but it is not known what data it collects.
✅ Sensitive data should not be entered – personal data, company confidential information and financial data should be avoided.
✅ When installed on a server, it needs careful configuration – if used locally, it must be ensured that data does not flow to Chinese servers.
✅ Alternatives can be more secure – when it comes to business-critical or sensitive information, AI models with well-documented and more transparent privacy policies are recommended.
While DeepSeek is technologically impressive, it should be used to. make an informed choice, especially if you are processing sensitive information. If security is important, give preference to AI solutions whose data policies you trust.
